Although it's tempting to use the direct conditions to tell whether a Hamiltonian transform is canonincal, be forewarned: the number of partial derivatives that you need to do goes as, um, 8n^2, n being the number of coordinates, and half of those involve reversing your transform to solve for the initial variables.
