July 22nd, 2003: Rain
I like rain a lot, but it's awfully hard to take pictures of.
July 14th, 2003: WHOI Tour
The science team won a tour of WHOI down on the Cape, and I decided to take a day off from work and drive them down since I know Woods Hole pretty well anyway, and actually know some people that work at WHOI. Unfortunately, I managed to arrive twenty minutes late on every bit of driving I was supposed to do: picking people up, getting to the 'tute, driving back home... oh well. So much for being quasi-local and knowing shortcuts.
Arriving on time... in the wrong parking lot.
Jo' Po'!
"He tells me to burn things!"
Control circuitry for a probe thing.
Greg Yu examines what I like to think of as the Chomp-o-Matic.
Hey, where did our two-ton buoy go?
Awesome.
Above we have scrap aluminum, two inches thick or so, left over by the awesomest drill ever. It uses a slurry of water and garnet at thirteen tons of pressure or so. The entire thing is computer controlled and is about ten feet on a side. As you can see it's pretty damn accurate and can punch holes in just about anything. Only sets you back 120 grand, too.
Some crazy undersea torture device.
Finally, who doesn't love flowers in macro mode?
July 4th, 2003: Gloucester
Our triumphant return!
Beachward bound
A truly summery day, in spirit, deed, and climate:
Shades
Hammock
Not enough clothing
Fire
The beach
People making googly eyes at each other
Here's my favorite picture of the trip:
And here is the almost-complete group shot:
Also, because I believe it's good to have embarrasing pictures of yourself on the Internet (lest one take oneself too seriously):

Finally, don't forget that July is Zombie Month!
Brains... brains...
A few more pictures here. Overall, trip is rated Grahamtastic.
