June 19th, 2003: Lab Work

Some kind of poor pictures of the lab where I work. My excuse for everything being dark and unpleasant-looking is that the room has no windows.

Reminds me of End of Evangelion because I am a dork

It's the little angry eyebrows that make it awesome.

June 2nd, 2003: Time Flies

Well, I, uh, didn't know it was June until I just checked what the date for this entry. I guess that means it's officially summer.

And with summer of course comes... LAN parties. Yeah, I'm just that cool. Here we are prepping for some Unreal Tournament 2003. A pretty fun game, and it has a nice rocket launcher, by which I mean I can kick a lot of ass with it. On the other hand, Mike actually plays the game consistently and knows how to find this ridiculous weapon called The Redeemer AKA "Let's be really unfair and make a giant inescapable explosion just to be obnoxious." Not that I'm bitter.

The seamy underbelly

Of course half the fun of a LAN party is hooking all the computers together. Windows networking is... interesting, but I managed to make stuff work in an hour or so.

The Lenny Zakim Bridge

After that was a weekend with my family to visit my sister in Vermont. (It's sad; the only reason I remember which order they went in is the dates on the JPEG files on my computer.) The drive up involved our nice new bridge.

Lady Dog!

Once there I didn't feel like doing too much so I mostly chilled out and took pictures of Lady the Wonder Dog.

The long road ahead. Or something

But there was other wildlife about. Laurel put up a hummingbird feeder and I saw two or three birds come by, which I understood to be something of a surprise.

And a snake

Also reptile life, I guess. I tried to take a few pretty pictures of the plants too, since what else are flowers for?

Fern fronds

Quasi self portrait

I kind of like the last one; it fits my picture-judging criterion that it look interesting when shrunk down really small (say, to the size of a thumbnail in gThumb, my picture viewing software). The secret workings of newton.cx exposed!

This might make a nice desktop

One more of Rady Rog

Well, date-wise this stuff hasn't happened so long ago but it feels like it's been forever. Henry sort of passively kicked my ass into actually updating; unfortunately I don't take pictures particularly often so my update frequency probably isn't about to spike. Although last night when it was raining and misty the lights of Day Middle School were shining through the trees onto Ablemarle Field really really photogenically. If only I had had, you know, my camera and a tripod. Oh well.
