October 30th, 2002: Pre-Halloween

Halloween-themed study break, appropriately enough. And, while we're at it, a fairly complete introduction to the denizens of Straus A.

A South Carolinian and a man-nun (Peter and Kiernan)

Yoko and John (Yui and Benet)

The Queen of Candyland, or something (Robyn)

A fencer and a hippie (Sherry and Julia)

Hippie redux (Milena)

A soldier (our RA Cody [?]) and nonparticipants

Ninja Guinea Pig!!!

October 29th, 2002: A Visitor

The irrepressible Ben Elias came up from Princeton today; they have the week off because they had all their midterms last week. Always fun to hang out and get spanked at Smash Brothers.

The irrepressible Ben Elias (of course)

Other than that...

... studying for linguistics midterm...

... Ahhhhhh!!!

October 27th, 2002: cons

Another entry for the list of fucking homeboys: John Dower.

October 22nd, 2002: Whoa

Well, this has been an exciting week. Say hi to Margaret.

October 15th, 2002: Break in Format

I just wanted to say that Bill Clinton is my fucking homeboy.

October 13th, 2002: Bllmurbleasdomfdds

I just totally messed up my sleep schedule. A few nights with four hours of sleep followed by sleeping during the day... I have a feeling tomorrow morning is going to suck suck suck.

Ilya's basement: Mike, Allison.

Besides the Ultimate tournament, a little get-together at Ilya's house was one reason for the craziness. Just like old times.

Jordan.

Jordan managed to get the crazy not-all-right-angles Rubik's Cube to get back into cuboidal form. Even with the colors being wrong, that was pretty cool.

October 12th, 2002: Devens Again

Frisbee tournament at Devens. Four and 0, with one more game to play tomorrow.

Ouch, early.

Team pic!

October 11th, 2002: Back Home

Well I know that it's been a long time since I've "rapped" with you, so I'll give you the update as to what's "going down" in my "hood".

Japanese gadgetry

Owen just got back from his three-week trip to Japan. He got some goodies and seemed to have had a fun time there. One especially kickass thing that he brought back was this fantastic photo book called Japan Underground. It's got great photographs of all sorts of cool underground facilities, including our favorite neutrino detector, Super Kamiokande.

I had a dessert that was really good for the first time in a long time. From time to time it's nice to get this kind of stuff.

Killah G and Ilya

Graham and Ilya came over and we watched a scary, confusing Japanese DVD that Owen got called Cure. It was a pretty cool horror/whodunit type movie although it certainly was hard to follow.

I think this is a nice picture of Graham.

Once I got back home (the Yard, not home-home... I guess that means I'm adjusting to the college experience well?) it was raining and I tried to take some nighttime shots. Unfortunately I had no good way to keep the camera steady, so blurriness ahoy.

Blurry Matthews.

I'm finding it harder to go around taking pictures here than at home ("home" has now become home-home... weird). First of all there's a lot of stuff to do, and second of all, I think I'd still feel uncomfortable taking pictures of the people here. I dunno whether they would mind or not, or something.

Between Mass Hall and Matthews.

As Ilya says, going home reminds me of high school. I've only been here for a month or so but it feels like high school is light years away. I'm surprised at how easily I've gotten used to living away from my parents. I guess the fact that I'm a five-minute drive away helps a lot in that regard; if I lived in California I'd think things would be pretty different.

That place to the right of Matthews.

That's basically what's been going on. Ultimate tourney at Devens tomorrow, I'll try and take pictures and post. Keeping a journal is pretty fun... I'm getting sucked in. he;lp.
